The Iron Throne Constitution
The law of the realm.
League Hierarchy
Commissioner: Thanos
Managers: Thanos, No One, The Dark Knight, American Gangster, The Red Right Hand, The Fifth Emperor, Thor Rantherock, Braveheart, The Hound, Mando al-Gaib, The King in the North, The White Walker.
League Entry Fees, Prize Pay, and Punishments
Entry
- 12 teams, and every house must pay before the draft. No exceptions. Money is due September 1st each year.
League dues rise to $200 beginning with the 2027 season.
Prize pay
King also receives Iron Throne Trophy and Kings Ring.
Every 4th year is a Legacy Year. An extra $30 has been collected from every house since the 2020 season, and that inflation money goes toward the Legacy Year prize for the championship.
The Snurg Gurgler (last place)
Ten punishment ideas stay in the Crown’s Mystery Bag. The previous Snurg draws a mystery ball from the bag and that becomes the League Punishment. Replace that ball every year with one new idea, voted on by the league.
- Change the team name to THE SNURG GURGLER for the following season (prior to the fantasy season).
- Wine, dine and 69 the Snurg Gurgler trophy at a restaurant, with a photo (prior to the last day of the fantasy season).
- Complete the Mystery Bag punishment (prior to the fantasy season).
You will also read the Snurg’s Creed, elevated above the rest of the league on a podium at the rookie draft.
- Determined by the end of Week 14 standings.
- If two or more teams are tied for the same worst record, the tiebreakers are: conference record, head to head, points.
The Snurg Gurgler escapes punishment if he wins the Castleblack Bowl. In that case the Snurg Gurgler is vacated for the season. Otherwise he remains the Snurg Gurgler until Week 17 has been completed.
Rules & Regulations
- Dynasty league.
- Online draft or live draft.
- Scoring: see the Scoring Breakdown.
- Waiver wire: $100 FAAB, with reverse order of standings as the tiebreak.
- One FAAB rebuy is allowed per season ($20 cash gets $50 FAAB). The cash goes to the Iron Bank for the Ring purchase, Tankards or the Snurg punishment. FAAB must be fully depleted before a rebuy.
- Two conferences: NFC and AFC.
AFC
- Thanos
- The Dark Knight
- The Red Right Hand
- Mando al-Gaib
- The White Walker
- The Hound
NFC
- No One
- American Gangster
- The King in the North
- The Fifth Emperor
- Thor Rantherock
- Braveheart
- Schedule: No One creates it, based on the previous year’s finishes.
- All trades go through the Commissioner.
- If the Commissioner is involved in a trade and two or more managers have any gripe, the trade shall be brought to a vote. Majority rules.
- Decisions brought to the league as a vote are determined by majority rule. If there is a tie, the Commissioner makes the final decision.
- Starting roster: QB, SFLEX, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, WR/TE, WR/RB, K, DEF.
- 23-man roster: 11 starters and 12 bench.
- Two IR slots (injury, suspension or COVID).
- A $10 FAAB loss for players on IR past 12:00 on Sunday who are not eligible.
- Taxi squad: you may have 5 rookies or sophomores on your team.
Playoff Configuration
- Playoffs: 6 teams. The top 2 teams from each conference are awarded the top seeds. Week 15 is a bye week for the top seed in the NFC and the AFC. Week 16 is the conference championships. Week 17 is the League Championship.
- Playoff tiebreaker (end of the regular season, two teams tied for a playoff spot): if the record is the same, the team with the better conference record advances. If conference record is tied, the better head-to-head record in the regular season advances. If both of those are tied, the team with the most points advances.
Three-way tiebreaker. In the rare event that 3 teams are tied for playoff seeding or for the Snurg: for example, The King in the North, Braveheart and Thor Rantherock all finish with the same overall record and the same conference record, and there is a three-way split in head to head (Thor Rantherock over The King in the North, The King in the North over Braveheart, Braveheart over Thor Rantherock). Then the head-to-head tiebreaker is voided and the tie is decided by points.
- The Castleblack Bowl (consolation tournament): the top NFC and AFC teams left receive the first-round bye. Beyond that, seeding goes strictly by overall record with the same tiebreakers as usual. No conference-specific matchups in this tournament. If the Snurg Gurgler wins the Castleblack Bowl he escapes the Snurg Gurgler, and it is vacated for the year. The winner gets 1 extra lottery slip.
Rookie Draft Guidelines & Penalties
Rookie draft order is a lottery each year for the rookies entering the NFL. The bottom 6 teams (end of regular season standings) are entered into a lottery drawing for the top six picks in the next season’s rookie draft. The same tiebreakers apply: conference record, then head to head, then points. Whoever owns the better conference record in a tie receives fewer slips than the manager with the worse conference record.
Lottery slips for the bottom six
The Castleblack Bowl winner receives 1 extra slip.
- The League Champion gets the 12th pick, and second place gets the 11th pick.
- The winner of the 3rd place game gets the 9th pick, and the loser gets the 10th pick.
- The winner of the 5th place game gets the 7th pick, and the loser gets the 8th pick.
- The draft is linear. It does not snake.
Adoption of Rule Changes
- Starting in 2027, the draft is paused at the conclusion of the 3rd round. Round 4 and 5 picks are selected in a second supplemental draft 2 weeks prior to NFL kickoff (if the first draft is completed in July or earlier). If the first draft is completed in August, the second draft is completed by September 1. Trading remains open throughout this process. Teams must cut to max roster size after the first draft and before the second draft.
- Starting at the full conclusion of the 2027 rookie draft, to trade picks 3 years out (for example, 2030 picks) you must pay a one-time $200 (league dues) fee to trade any and all of that year’s picks. If you leave the league, the money is not refunded; it pays for the new manager’s entry fee. If you stay in the league, the $200 covers that year’s dues. Only the manager trading the picks away must pay the $200. The penalty for not paying within 24 hours of trade completion will be discussed at a later time.
- The schedule now includes 7 interconference games and 7 conference games, mixed throughout the year. The only stipulation is that the final two games of the regular season are conference games.
- At the Iron Cup, the Cloak is now opened to total plus-Quota, to include drinks consumed.
- Collusion trades are vetoed and lead to removal from the league. Not paying your dues and roster oversight (lack of effort) do the same. Failure to complete the Snurg punishment, or tanking, is punishable by removal (see details below).
Catastrophe Oversight Committee Krew
If the Commissioner is involved in a catastrophic situation, a prepared oversight committee reviews and evaluates the proper way to proceed. It is prepared by a random draw of names for 3 people before the season starts, and they come to a majority decision among themselves. If one of those 3 people is involved as well, there is one extra drawing for a third person. The committee is only called upon if the Commissioner is involved.
Going forward
- The Snurg Gurgler will know his fate by the middle of January. You have until September 1st to complete the Mystery Bag Snurg Gurgler punishment and the name change. (Exception: Wine, Dine & 69 must be completed before the following season’s completion.) If the Mystery Bag punishment and the name change to Snurg are not performed before September 1st of every year, you are given 10 days to complete all punishments.
But. The men on the waiting list to enter the league are given this same time period to accomplish your punishment. If a man on the waiting list is willing to:
- Complete YOUR punishment before you complete it, AND
- Pay the $200 league fee BEFORE you complete the punishment,
you are removed from the league without any league vote.
Tanking is prohibited. It is punishable by removal from the league. If any type of tanking takes place, $50 of FAAB is immediately removed from your following season’s FAAB and you are not allowed to buy back in. We will also vote on your removal from the league.
Member Removal
Waiting list and managers exiting the league. There is a waiting list of team managers who would like to join the league in the event that a founding member of the 12 decides to exit. Interviews are held for the top candidates before the league vote to select the new member. Majority rules, and if there are more than 2 candidates, the most votes wins. The new manager selected pays the $200 fee to enter the league and inherits the current team of the manager who exited.
- In the unfortunate event that a manager is relieved of their duties or steps down before the season starts or midseason, the interim GM is not susceptible to the Snurg punishment in their first season (if midseason, only for the rest of that season). All 11 other members are still susceptible. If any of the other 11 finish 12th place, they are still the Snurg Gurgler.
- The interim GM takes over and is allowed to make trades effective immediately. Tanking is still prohibited. The interim GM completes an initiation Beer Combine at the following year’s rookie draft.
Here ends the law of the realm.
