The Hound
The quiet man of wise words. Forged by fire.
The Story
I am the Shadowed Sovereign, keeper of this realm's memory, and of all the houses I keep, none has known the fire as intimately as this one. He is the heir of a man named Harley Boss Manley, and he came into the realm quiet, a lord of few words and fewer transactions, with a loyalty the realm has seen in no other house. The Hound does not speak to be heard. He speaks when there is something worth saying, and the realm has learned to listen. He was forged by fire, and he survived it because the fire inside him burned brighter than the fire around him.
He accepted a challenge he did not yet understand, a first fantasy league against seasoned veterans, and then a harder one, for the realm was not only fantasy but dynasty. His early seasons were tested by fire. He built around Joe Burrow and Kyler Murray, and in each of his first three years he found himself fighting in the game for eleventh place. In the second year, Kyler Murray scored sixty-two points in a single week, one of the highest scores the realm has ever recorded, at the time, and for one day the quiet man shook the league. But the fire was not yet done with him. He moved up to seventh in the Legacy Year, and the whole time he was sharpening his axe, collecting first-round picks and holding to his core. What became of that year I keep in shadow.
In the second cycle the Hound finally found his footing. In 2023 he made the playoffs for the first time and reached the highest finish of his career, sixth place, and he made the playoffs again the year after. Then the fire returned, and the next season brought a record of 2-12 and the threat of the Snurg Gurgler, the ultimate shame. The Hound did what he has always done: he fought. He won a pivotal game in Week 14 and escaped the dreaded T-Rex by the width of a single game. It is a habit that drives his rivals mad, for he sits near the bottom of the table and narrowly escapes year after year, and the realm has begun to wonder what he will do when he finally stops running. To close out the Legacy Year, the Hound is looking to climb the table and finally show the realm what a dog with nothing to lose can do. The season is still being played, and its story is not yet written, but I am always watching.
